The operational season of the Little Green Train has begun, which leaves Macomer on Easter Monday, where the executive board of the Foundation met yesterday, with president Elso Rei and Roberto Neroni, Carlo Poledrini, Piero Casula, Marcello Ladu, Francesco Zedde, the auditor Gerolamo Meloni, with the participation of several mayors of the area, as well as that of Macomer and Bosa, with Franco Scanu, president of the Union of Municipalities of Marghine.

During the meeting, the objectives to be achieved in the season that is about to begin were outlined. The agenda was particularly focused on the definition of the contract between the Foundation and Arst, for the start of the 2024 season . The first trip of 2024 (sold out), is that of Easter Monday, which will depart from Macomer station to get to that of Tresnuraghes. In May the most suggestive stretch should also reopen and after years, the Green Train will finally be able to reach Bosa Marina.

«Two positive pieces of news for Marghine and Planargia - says the mayor of Macomer, Riccardo Uda - the green train can be a new and important element of development for the territories of Marghine and Planargia and for the towns of Macomer and Bosa. The Foundation will be able to play, in collaboration with the municipal administrations, a fundamental role in this direction."

The Macomer meeting also represents the opportunity to bring to the attention of the Foundation's executive body the case of the regional financing of approximately 5 million euros for the project called "Refunctionalization of the Region's real estate assets". This is an intervention for the renovation and valorisation of stations and roadman's houses on the railway line that connects Macomer and Bosa, which involves the Municipality of Macomer (lead body), with 8 other municipalities between Marghine and Planargia, therefore the provinces of Nuoro and Oristano, the respective Superintendencies, the Arst and the Region. Funds which, however, were revoked due to the accumulated delays but, given the strategic importance of the project, will have to be recovered. «We await the new composition of the new regional council - said Riccardo Uda - to try to recover the resources necessary to carry out that intervention, with the support of the Foundation».
