The "Dolci Sfizi" by Nicolò Vellino , the ice cream maker from Macomer, conquer Italy. Vellino, in fact, triumphs for the sixth consecutive time in the edition of the guide Gelaterie d'Italia by Gambero Rosso.
At the international ice cream and pastry salon in Rimini, where the important exhibition that gathers the excellence of the renowned Italian ice cream shop took place, he obtained the highest recognition, with the Three Cones. The master ice cream maker from Macomerese, not yet 50 years old, won over the juries, confirming himself once again, among the best ice cream shops in Italy.
Nicolò Vellino works in the ice cream shops of Macomer and Nuoro, with “Dolci sfizi”, after a vast experience in Spain, France and above all in Lugano, Switzerland.
"I left Macomer when I was 12 years old - says the award-winning ice cream maker - I returned to Sardinia as an adult, with a wealth of important experience , but I didn't choose to work in renowned tourist areas, near the sea, but I immediately preferred to stay in Macomer. I recently opened a business in Nuoro too. I therefore continue to invest in the hinterland, convinced that a lot can be done here and it can become an area of attraction. I operate by exploiting typical local products, thanks to the collaboration with companies and producers on our island, using Bosa malvasia, saffron, extra virgin olive oil and honey from Bolotana, prickly pears and pear distillate from Dualchi, citrus fruits from Milis, Tonara nougat, Oliena persimmons, Galtellì mandarins and blackberries from Mount Sant'Antonio di Macomer, and then also mushrooms, such as s'Antunna, as well as of course local milk and zero-mile sheep's ricotta. I only import the cocoa beans that I go and choose in Colombia, to ensure the eco-sustainability of the cultivation and without child exploitation".
