The body of an elderly man was recovered this afternoon in the waters of the port of Olbia.

The Coast Guard has identified the victim: Giovanni Moscatelli, 88, from Tarquinia, in the province of Viterbo.

The elderly man had boarded the ship in Civitavecchia on February 11th. On the morning of the 12th, at the ship's captain's orders, he was taken to the emergency room in Olbia after feeling unwell.

But Moscatelli had left the John Paul II building that afternoon, disappearing without a trace. According to some reports, he had been seen wandering disoriented through the city streets.

The tragic discovery was made today, and the Coast Guard has begun an investigation. It remains to be seen what happened in her final hours.
