With the waste platform and the logistics centers of the large food chains, which replace large industry, a new construction site is being started in Tossilo to create an expanse of agrovoltaic solar panels, which is added to the one created in 2012, in addition to those which will also concern the territory of Borore.

In a private area of 40 hectares, next to the waste-to-energy plant, renovation and leveling works are underway. The project overcame the obstacles linked to the authorizations of the Region. The owners of the land (which will not undergo use) will receive compensation for the advantageous surface right. «This is an intervention on private land regulated by the Region, outside the area pertaining to the industrial Consortium - says the municipal councilor for the Environment, Toto Listo - We know that it is a plant that will be built not with classic panels and which will not affect use for pastures, with particular characteristics. In any case, everything is the responsibility of the Region."

In addition to the visual impact, it is not known what the benefits will be for the area. There will be no impact on employment and 3 percent of electricity production will be guaranteed to the relevant municipality. The project is part of a process that some define as energy colonization of Sardinia. In the case of Tossilo the community will have no advantage. According to rumours, the Tossilo area is destined to become a large expanse of panels for the production of energy from renewable sources. Other projects are being developed, such as another ten hectares, again in Tossilo, but in the Borore area.

«We don't have direct jurisdiction - says the mayor of Borore, Tore Ghisu - but we can say that there will be a certain impact for the community. Now we need to understand what the benefits are for the Municipality and the community." In recent years, similar projects have been carried out, occupying a large area next to the industrial area of Tossilo, in the triangle between Macomer, Borore and Birori. A process that seems unstoppable.
