The Little Green Train will resume service tomorrow, August 15th, on the old railway line between Macomer and Bosa. The service was interrupted last July 8th when a truck damaged the railway bridge over the 129 road to Bosa. The interruption occurred following a tragic accident on state road 131, which killed a truck driver. Traffic was diverted to secondary roads, including the Macomer-Bosa road.
On that occasion, a heavy vehicle had failed to observe the maximum clearance under the bridge. It had literally become wedged in the structure, shifting the railway bridge by several centimeters, knocking it off-axis, and severing three of the special bolts that support the entire structure . This disruption caused immense damage to tourism-related businesses, with thousands of reservations cancelled.
The entire season was threatened, with bookings secured across Europe by the Esedra cooperative, which manages the Little Green Train journeys. It took a month and a half to repair that bridge . Tomorrow, the Ferragosto holiday, the Little Green Train will resume its journey, its ancient carriage filled with tourists.
