Losing their bearings at the Pools of Venus: Hikers rescued by helicopter

They lost their bearings and, unable to find their way back to base,   they raised the alarm. It happened today in Baunei , at the Piscine di Venere , where two young trekkers , he, 21, English and she, 22, Australian, were rescued by helicopter.

The two sent an SOS to NUE112, with the alarm going off around 5pm.

Having obtained the coordinates of their position, a ground team from the Tortolì detachment and the SAF specialists from the Drago 144 crew of the Alghero Fire Department were sent to the scene. Once on site and identified, the hikers were hoisted on board and transferred to the "San Francesco" helipad in Nuoro.

Tired and scared but in good physical condition, the two refused medical checks by the 118 medical staff.
