"They saved me in the hospital and I didn't expect what I saw." Speaking is a 66-year-old from Sassari, Franco Carboni, who wants to tell how he came out alive from a delicate head surgery thanks to the Neurosurgery department of the Sassari civil hospital.

«At the beginning of July», he reports, «I started limping in my left leg. And also the left arm was malfunctioning». He does a neurological visit and a CAT scan: «After the results of the exam, I ended up in the emergency room with a diagnosis of cerebral hematoma». It is the evening of 6 July and Franco is in the structure convinced that he is entering a circle of hell. «But no. No turmoil or queues of people left to their own devices».

The positive wonder collides with the following surprise because, as soon as he is transported to Neurosurgery, a department directed by Professor Riccardo Boccaletti, the doctor informs him that he needs to be operated on. "I asked when and he replied: 'Now, I don't want to risk waiting for tomorrow morning.' To which follows: "You shouldn't be afraid, just worry".

Carboni sees his own existence at risk and given the age of the surgeon he has some doubts: «I thought about how many operations he will have had, so young. Then I placed myself in the hands of the Lord." At 10 pm he is already under the knife for an operation which ended happily after a few hours, while his resignation arrives within a few days: «Everyone was very good and kind to me, from the doctors to the nurses to the Oss. I wanted to express my amazement because I expected something else, given what I read. Thank you".
