Ten men, presumably of Algerian nationality, were tracked down and rescued during the night by the Carabinieri on the beach of Porto Nuovo, in the municipality of Teulada .

The alarm was raised by a citizen who noticed suspicious movements on the shoreline: the military from the Narcao station intervened immediately, finding the group in apparently good health conditions.

According to initial reconstructions, the migrants arrived on the coast aboard a makeshift vessel, which later disappeared. Despite searches, no trace of the vessel was found.

After identification operations and initial assistance, the ten men were transferred to the first reception centre in Monastir, where the procedures required by the immigration law will be started.
