Hard times for the crafty ones of the differentiated in Quartu. Those who thought of continuing to throw garbage bags around the city and the countryside, did not deal with the new equipment supplied to the local police: the six photo-traps placed in the most at-risk points of the territory, have already made the first "victims".

The first fined

A few days after their installation, six uncivilized people have already been caught red-handed while throwing undifferentiated envelopes on the street: all documented in photos and videos. They are all men, not registered with the Tari or tenants in rented houses. In practice, there are those who do not pay taxes and therefore prefer to throw the garbage where it happens and those who are rented and do not care to respect the rules. For all the fines have arrived. «The use of photo traps is very important», explains the deputy commander of the local police Antonello Angioni, «but also the cameras in certain contexts and on certain occasions are useful. The first results with the trap photos have already arrived, there is something to improve but we are still on the right path ».

The appliances

The equipment supplied to the local police are three killer photo-traps that produce high-definition videos even at night and three other photo-traps that are triggered only when abandonments occur. Every week they are moved to the most at-risk areas where landfills are fed both in the inhabited center such as Pirastu, the industrial area of Sa Serrixedda and via Fiume, or on the coast.

The map of decay

And it is precisely on the outskirts of the city that there are the most critical situations. Just think of Pirastu between the streets Padre Picci and Monsignor Aresu where the piles of rubble and bulky items invade the streets preventing even the passage. In Sa Serrixedda the extreme case is that of via Uda where the piles of waste reach almost the height of the houses. There is everything: refrigerators, bulky, mattresses, paint cans, rubble, armchairs, plastic and even mopeds and vans. The Municipality has allocated 15 thousand euros to proceed with an initial reclamation. To a lesser extent, via Fiume and the heart of the historic center are also involved.

How do they work

Photo-traps allow you to control an outdoor area and check what happens. The device is activated automatically when any type of passage or movement is detected, both at night and during the day. They send images and videos in real time and are equipped with infrared sensors capable of shooting uncivilized people even at night in a really clear way without producing lights that can reveal the device. They can be camouflaged very easily even among trees and vegetation and seeing them is really difficult unlike cameras.
