As many as 20 boats anchored in the waters of the La Maddalena Archipelago, in defiance of the bans .
The men of the Port Authority declare war on the prevailing illegal activity in the Archipelago with the operation “Safe Seas and Lakes”. With three vehicles, at the first light of dawn, they carried out an operation aimed precisely at finding all these yachts, motorboats, catamarans, sailboats and anything else that are illegally moored in the waters of La Maddalena .
In fact, from 9 pm to 8 am, anchoring is prohibited throughout the marine area that falls under the jurisdiction of the Park . Stopping is permitted only for pleasure craft owned by citizens residing in the municipality of La Maddalena, provided they are equipped with on-board services with sewage collection tanks.
The checks were concentrated on the islands of Spargi, Budelli, Razzoli and Santa Maria and in the locality of “Porto della Madonna” . Twenty sanctions were imposed on the owners of as many boats, for a total amount exceeding 9 thousand euros .
The Coast Guard recalls that the rule, established by the extraordinary commissioner (ordinance no. 1 of 6 August 2024) «has the aim of safeguarding and preserving the habitats of high naturalistic value that characterise the waters and coasts of the Archipelago and of guaranteeing sustainable use of this extraordinary common heritage, in particular without causing permanent damage to the precious Posidonia oceanica present on the seabed».
