The proliferation of wild boar hybrids, also on the island of Spargi, has led the National Park to organize a selective killing on 24-26-31 October from 8:00 to 13:00 and in November on 2-7-9 -14-16-21-23, always from 8:00 to 13:00.

«Last summer there were many reports of the presence of wild boars among bathers on the beach on the island of Spargi», says the director of the Park, Giulio Plastina. «There is a problem linked to the presence of these animals, which are not native but alien, brought by man. They reproduce, have no predators and cause enormous damage not only to the flora but also to the fauna and therefore to the endemic species present on that island; They also have a negative impact on the avifauna, so it is necessary to continue with the eradication plan which, in addition to affecting the islands of Maddalena and Caprera, also includes this island."

Suspended in the summer months, the rifle eradication plan, which has a five-year duration and has obtained all the authorizations required by current legislation, will therefore resume in a few days and, once completed on the island of Spargi, will subsequently continue in the two major islands where in the meantime the proliferation of wild boar hybrids has been notable.
