Job promises in exchange for votes, 15 investigated in Oristano
The Digos investigation began a year ago during the electoral campaign for the February 2024 regional electionsJobs in exchange for votes. A rather casual method to try to recover preferences for one of the many candidates in the Oristano constituency for the February 2024 Regionals. And above all, it is the central issue of the investigation by the Prosecutor's Office which accuses 15 people of violating Article 96 of the Consolidated Text of Electoral Laws , on the free exercise of the right to vote.
The first name to end up in the register of suspects would be that of Maria Immacolata Orrù, 61 years old from Sassari, who according to investigators would have set up a system to procure consensus for her husband Gian Carlo Serra, former municipal councilor of Sassari, candidate on the UDC list . The investigation is kept strictly confidential, the investigations are ongoing and further developments are not excluded.
According to the men of the Digos, led by the chief commissioner Federica Sanna, the 61-year-old with a network of collaborators would have repeatedly called together the unemployed or people in economic difficulty, promising everyone a secure job in a facility for the elderly or other benefits in exchange for a vote for her husband . The commitments made, despite the package of over 900 preferences, were not only not enough for Serra to arrive in via Roma but resulted in a judicial earthquake.
The investigation was long and complex. Numerous people were questioned, documents were acquired and searches were carried out in offices and polling stations, several documents and a mobile phone were seized.
About a year ago, Maria Immacolata Orrù, assisted by the lawyer Giancarlo Frongia , was registered in the register of suspects.
