Today begins the week of the African anticyclone Charon , which sees Italy and Sardinia in particular at the center of a historic storm of infernal heat already called "Hot storm" .

A historic heat wave for meteorologists. In fact, analyzing the weather maps of the periods of extreme heat of the last two decades, there has never been such a prolonged and extreme heat extended to the whole peninsula .

A progressive increase in temperatures is expected until Wednesday, and the most intense heat will affect Sardinia and Sicily. Peaks of up to 47 degrees are expected on the island in the southern inland areas, such as Decimomannu . The high humidity will do the rest, increasing the perceived temperatures and further worsening the conditions of physical discomfort.

"We are still at the mercy of African high pressure which is so vast that it manages to reach Greece, having its epicenter right in Sardinia", explained in recent days by the Decimomannu Air Force weather service, " the problem is above all felt in internal areas and at night, when there is no ventilation and high pressure also tends to compress the air in the lower layers, with the accumulation of humidity ».

If during the day the climate is hot, at night it will be the heat that reigns supreme. Tropical nights are expected with Charon, i.e. with temperatures that will never drop below 20-24°C. Finally, a mention also of the exceptional temperatures of the seas: the surface already measures 30°C, a tropical level worthy of the Libyan Sea.
