Failure to pay the tourist tax, failure to file tax returns, failure to notify the authorities of guests , and many other irregularities: these are what the Oristano financial police discovered during inspections of summer vacation rentals in the Cabras area.

The operation, which covered the 2022 and 2023 tax years and was carried out as part of the fight against tax evasion and unfair competition, affected dozens of properties used for seasonal vacations, many of which were advertised via online platforms or managed privately.

Specifically, 112 cases of non-payment or late payment of the tourist tax were found, as well as tax return violations, failure to notify residents to law enforcement authorities, non-compliance with regional regulations regarding accommodation facilities, and irregularities related to the failure to display property identification codes.
During the inspections, six landlords were fined for administrative violations, primarily related to improper management of rentals and the lack of required permits. Of these, four were reported to the Judicial Authority for criminal conduct, having failed to provide the authorities with the personal details of 120 guests within 24 hours of their arrival.
