Data in "slight" decline, all, both infections and hospitalizations, both intensive and deaths. However, ten days after May 1, the date on which the obligation to wear masks indoors should expire, "the circulation of the virus is still very high: the number of positives, underestimated, exceeds 1.2 million, new daily cases are over 50 thousand and the positivity rate is over 15 percent ".

For this reason "abolishing the obligation to wear a mask indoors is a very rash decision", says the president of the Gimbe Foundation Nino Cartabellotta, illustrating the data of the usual weekly report and underlining that in 72 provinces the incidence exceeds 500 weekly cases per 100 thousand inhabitants . Also in 4 of the 5 Sardinian provinces: to be precise Oristano 676, Cagliari 637, Nuoro 623 and South Sardinia 608. The incidence in Sassari is instead of 475.

The new cases this week (13.19 April) are in "sharp decline", a -19.5% compared to the previous week which, however, is "conditioned by a reduction of more than 20% of tampons as a result of the Easter holidays".

In particular, in the past week, the new cases were 353,193 compared to the 438,751 of the previous one, with an average of 50,000 infections per day. The currently positive cases are also decreasing, passing from 1,228,745 to 1,208,279.

The incidence also fell on the island (-23% in Oristano, -24 in Cagliari, -21.7 in Nuoro, -11.6 in Southern Sardinia and -28.8 in Sassari). But the percentage of beds in the medical area (20.6%) and intensive care (10.3%) remains above the national average and the alert threshold.

In intensive care, the number of beds occupied fell from 463 to 422, -8.9%. Deaths are also down: 861, -7.3% compared to 929 the previous week. The number of hospitalized in the medical area remained stable at around 10,200 (+ 0.1%).

FOURTH DOSE IN RELEASE - The administration of the fourth doses of the anti Covid vaccine starts slowly. Until April 20, 80,554 were administered to the immunocompromised, with a coverage rate of 10.2% of the 791,376 people to whom it should be administered.

On the other hand, the fourth doses administered to the over 80s, guests of the Rsa and frail between 60-79 years, are 29,158, equal to 0.7% of the 4.4 million people who fall into these categories.

The number of new vaccinates is still decreasing: from 13 to 19 April they were 6,092 compared to 8,601 the previous week, equal to -29.2%. While the people currently vaccinated with the first dose are about 4.2 million and 2 million are, however, those who could receive the third dose immediately. Gimbe thus points the finger at a "vaccination campaign at the stake".
