A few hundred breeders and a few dozen mayors participated in a meeting today in Tramatza to denounce the crisis in the countryside on the Island due – also – to the failure to pay reimbursements and contributions. A document signed by a hundred mayors will be sent to the Region to ask for answers and facts. "The companies are exhausted", the message launched by Nenneddu Sanna, one of the spokespersons of the shepherds' movement. "In my town alone, Orune, ten to fifteen are closing every year".

Farmers ready to take to the streets: a traffic slowdown along state road 131 has been scheduled for next Friday evening, March 21. The main problem is the failure to pay premiums. "Bureaucracy is killing our companies," adds Sanna. "The main problem is the failure to pay community funds, but it's not the only one. They told us that funds have been allocated for drought. But here no one has seen any money."

A request from the shepherds to the Region: " They must have the humility of those who work in companies, they cannot continue to ignore a sector that is so important for the economy of Sardinia . Dialogue is lacking here", concludes Sanna. The assembly in Tramatza is the first in a series of meetings to claim the need for interventions in the countryside.
