The revolt of the olive trees recalls the solidarity of the whole of Sardinia, with Selargius effectively becoming the heart of the protest, symbol of the fight against the energy assault on the island.

«We will stay here until we have answers from governor Todde», announces the spokesperson of the No Tyrrhenian link citizen committee, Rita Corda , from the permanent garrison created in the countryside of Selargius, in Su Pardu, in the land under forced expropriation by Terna, where between Sunday evening and yesterday morning about a hundred people arrived to stop the arrival of two other electrical stations that they want to build as the final landing place of the Tyrrhenian link.

«We are receiving solidarity from every corner of Sardinia, all the island coordination committees are with us», says Corda. There are those who arrived in vans, with new trees to plant, others with mega containers of water for irrigation. Still others with drinks and food, because the rebellion could last a long time. «We will remain until the end, until our President of the Region decides to finally take the field to stop Terna», says the Selargina spokeswoman, who also calls the mayor Gigi Concu into question: «He must intervene to mediate the conflict that has arisen created between citizens - who are protesting to legitimately defend their territory - and Terna who is instead destroying it. He is occupying lands that the owners do not want to sell, this is very serious."

They call it the "revolt of the olive trees", a rebellion that spreads from Selargius to the whole of Sardinia.
