In Sardinia , road accidents have clearly decreased in the last 10 years , by 46.7%. Road victims are also down, -54.5%.

These are the data provided by the Traffic Police on the eve of the "National Day in Remembrance of Road Victims". To be precise: in 2011 there were 1,297 accidents on the island, with 33 dead and 1,187 injured, in 2021 there were 691 with 15 dead and 494 injured .

Something is changing for the better, but it is not enough to let the Police know on the eve of a day that "requires a reflection on the behaviors to be adopted". So beware of distraction, high speed, failure to respect signs and safety distances, avoid the use of alcohol and drugs and do not use telephones, because "you don't mess around on the road". Pedestrians, on the other hand, are advised to avoid too much haste.

In Italy in 2021 there were 151,875 accidents, in which 2,875 people lost their lives and 204,728 were injured . Here too numbers are down compared to 2001, when there were 263,100 accidents, 7,096 victims and 373,286 injured.

For this year, the Highway Police Department for Sardinia has organised, in collaboration with the Cagliari Highway Police Section, a meeting dedicated to the students of the Liceo Classico “G. Siotto Pintor” of Cagliari on the topic of road safety . All the victims of the road will be remembered and there will be interventions to underline the importance of human life.
