Traffic at Sardinian airports is growing compared to the pre-pandemic period and will also record an increase in 2023 compared to 2022. The only flaw: the reduction, between one year and the next, in passengers for the Coral Riviera of Alghero, caused by a collapse of international connections.

This is certified by the latest Enec report, released this morning, which provides an x-ray of all Italian airports. Olbia airport grew the most compared to the period before the advent of the virus which had paralyzed the world, recording a +10.9% increase in passengers: at the Costa Smeralda it went from almost 2, 9 million passengers (2019) to 3.2 in 2023. Alghero follows closely with an increase of 7.7 percent: from 1.3 to almost 1.5 million passengers. More modest growth for Cagliari, 2.6%.

On a national scale, Mario Mameli ranks twelfth in terms of passenger flow (between arrivals and departures): there were 4 million and 883 thousand in 2023, with a growth of 10.4% compared to the previous year. Cala Alghero: just under 1.5 million passengers last year, with a reduction of 2.3% compared to 2022. Olbia, on the other hand, exceeds 3.2 million thanks to an increase of 3.7% between one year and the other.

The international transport data crown Olbia airport: with one million and 423 thousand passengers (+13.9% in a year) it still surpasses Cagliari, with its one million and 254 thousand (number lower than the Costa Smeralda, despite a increase of 18.3%). Alghero is sinking on this front: in one year it lost 10.9% of arrivals and departures.
