The Sardinian shepherds mobilize, supporting the restart of Orotelli after the fire.
And a few hours after the appeal launched on social media by the Desulese breeder Fortunato Ladu, dozens are reaching the Barbagia town. A river of solidarity, of small trucks and articulated vehicles with bales of hay, feed and equipment for those who lost everything under the fury of the flames.
Yesterday morning, a first load from Montiferru. The “Cuglieri Progetto comune” page told the story on Facebook: «On this night three years ago the fire devoured our territory, many took care of us, this is the moment of restitution to those who are experiencing the same drama, the same suffering, the same need", and then concluded: "We are close to you".
The protagonists of the initiative were the farmers Antonio Oro, Francesco Canè, Tommaso Tumbarinu and Graziano Carrus, who left early from the Oristano area with a Fiat Daily, loaded with hay: «We didn't waste time - says Antonio Oro – immediately organizing the trip to Orotelli. The availability of our friend Tore Angotzi who offered us his truck proved to be fundamental."
Adds Oro: «We have reached the most affected areas, unloading the fodder that will help our colleagues in this difficult phase. Seeing so much destruction was heartbreaking, taking us back to 2021, when our countryside was swept away by fire. Orotelli's friends were among the first to help us. We couldn't turn our backs on him."

And while new shipments are expected in the town over the next few hours, Mayor Toni Bosu comments: «We are overwhelmed by an unprecedented wave of affection, with the Town Hall phones ringing continuously. They are calling us from all over Sardinia. All this excites us and we are grateful to those who are supporting us."
Bosu adds: «The devastation is great, with at least 6 companies affected by various damages, but we will get back on our feet, also thanks to the great sense of brotherhood of all the Sardinian people».
The visit of the regional councilor for Agriculture Gianfranco Satta is expected in the next few days, assessing the damage and aid to the community.
