“Investing in the Blue Future: Financing Opportunities for Fisheries and Aquaculture”: this was the title of the conference, organized by Agripesca, held in Golfo Aranci. «Aquaculture will become increasingly important due to the scarcity of fish in the seas and oceans», said Mauro Monaco, vice president of the Mediterranean Aquaculture Association, «as of today, imports of aquaculture products from non-European countries satisfy the 70% of consumer demand in Europe and in the future may be less available with the increase in local consumption and changes in preferences and eating habits of the middle class."

For Michele Ruiu, cooperation expert, in order to achieve food security, Europe needs greater cooperation between operators and with institutions so that a virtuous path can be undertaken, towards the creation of new entrepreneurial initiatives in the sector, which can cover the gap".

For his part, Pietro Langui, president of the Golfo Aranci fishermen's cooperative, underlined how only with aggregation, cooperation and union can we participate forcefully in community tenders and start a process of renewal and technological adaptation of the fleets.

The conference moved on two parallel but distinct tracks: the first saw the interventions of various experts, who defined the trends of the future of fishing, between incentives and statistics; the second was a comparison between operators. The president of Agripesca Mario Serpillo closed the meeting by asking the institutions to take responsibility for the protection of the fishing sector, a bastion of tradition, culture, respect for the sea and the coast. Fundamental, he said, is the activity of Agripesca, a non-profit federation which carries out its role of protection, representation and promotion of the activities of the maritime fishing sector, inland waters and fishing entrepreneurship at various institutional, community and central levels. and peripherals.
