There is no doubting the particular attention that the Forestry Carabinieri are paying towards the island of Caprera, in the La Maddalena Archipelago National Park. In fact, last July 12th, the memory of San Giovanni Gualberto, patron saint of Italian foresters, was celebrated here for the whole of Sardinia, while for two days, July 25th and 26th, the island of Garibaldi was visited by the Army Corps general, Andrea Rispoli, commander of the Forestry, Environmental and Agri-food Unit Command and by the Brigadier general, Simonetta De Cruz, commander of the Carabinieri Forestali Region of Lazio.

On Caprera there is a permanent post for the Forestry Carabinieri, the only permanent police force on the island «who carry out proximity activities aimed at preventing illicit behavior which could seriously harm the rich and precious biodiversity of the island and the public safety of the numerous tourists who visit during this period. flow into a place where history and nature meet." For this reason, the number of members of the garrison, currently reduced to two soldiers, should be increased.

Accompanying the two senior officers was Captain Michele Ravaglioli, commander of the Nature Anti-Crime Center of Cagliari, which coordinates all the forestry departments of the army in Sardinia, who recalls how Caprera has «more than 900 plant species, many of which are endemic and as such deserving of particular surveillance. Also from the point of view of fauna the Archipelago is very important also because it is the nesting site of important species, including great and lesser shearwaters, common shags, Corsican gulls, passage of cetaceans, the presence of which indicates a good state of health of the sea".

The two senior officers, during the two days in Capri, met the director of the National Park, Giulio Plastina, the mayor of La Maddalena, Fabio Lai, and the commander of the Port Authority, Emiliano Santocchini.
