The Navy promenade in Su Siccu reopens : 520 meters overlooking the sea to restore continuity to a route that starts from Via Roma and reaches Parco Nervi and Sant'Elia .

A radical redevelopment intervention started at the end of 2023 to restore the walking surface damaged also by use that was not always adequate: from now on, bikes will be able to cross the promenade but only carried by hand by drivers. Scooters are also prohibited. Green light, however, for pedestrians, prams, pushchairs and wheelchairs .

The works, entrusted to the Ecotekna Srl company of Fonni for an amount of approximately 1 million and 730 thousand euros, involved the maintenance or arrangement of the steel bars that support the wooden walking surface and the addition of further reinforcements, both in the metal structure and in the reinforced concrete one.

«It is a work that we are returning to the city after ten months - the words of the general secretary of the AdSP Natale Ditel - the times have taken longer because steel is now a very rare material on the market . And in any case today we return a work that from the Calata di Via Roma leads to the Ichnusa Pier, then continues along the Admiralty walk, arrives at Su Siccu, at the Nervi park and connects to the Sant'Elia park. So for us it is truly a source of great pride to be able to restore a piece of state property to the use of citizens."

The walk will be closed at 1am and will then reopen at 6am . Surveillance systems provided. The railings were also rearranged and adjusted in height to the new safety standards. The entire flooring was replaced with new "Massaranduba" wooden slats. Part of the old flooring in good condition was recovered and taken over by a sports club.

«I feel obliged to thank all the citizens for their patient wait - states Massimo Deiana, president of the AdSP - unfortunately extended by the many difficulties in supplying the steel components. From today, however, we will finally be able to fully enjoy this splendid walk, certain that patrons will be able to be more careful and responsible in using the property."
