«For the activity carried out in the city of Cagliari in favor of women and the weakest with the creation of a reception center for homeless mothers, women and men. Witness of love towards the community and of a vision of active citizenship to be set as an example".

This is the reason for the honor of the City of Cagliari "Medal of Honor Ottone Bacaredda" assigned by the mayor Paolo Truzzu to Silvana Migoni , president of the association "Women at the finish line". The award, established in 2004, has since then been destined for Cagliari citizens who are particularly active in the city's social life.

The initiative is part of the Ottone Bacaredda project , the mayor who was at the helm of the municipal administration for five legislatures and who started a great work of modernizing the city between the 1800s and 1900s.

The name of Bacaredda is linked to the construction of many public works , elementary and high schools, the water supply and sewage systems, the lighting systems, the market in Largo Carlo Felice, the arcades in via Roma, the new Town Hall and the Bastion of Saint Remy.

«A medal that makes me proud - said Migoni - above all for the visionary spirit that characterized the figure of Bacaredda, a man capable of seeing buildings where rubble used to exist. In the initiatives undertaken together with many people who work in the social sector, I feel this attitude as mine".
