More than one hundred, almost 150, the brave people who will face the challenge of swimming on New Year's Eve in the prohibitive waters of Balai beach . On the coast of Porto Torres there will be a public for special occasions for the 19th edition of the event which attracts people from all over the province of Sassari. Phone in hand they will immortalize the moment of the dive, the farewell to 2024 in a suggestive landscape with a special setting created by the presence of canoeists supporting the daredevils, together for a fun game involving children and the elderly.

Participants will meet on the beach at 10am with Santa Claus costume, t-shirts and hat. The dive at 11.50. Then music, dancing, entertainment and the final toast. The youngest Sofia and Alessandra are 8 years old , the eldest , Salvatore Delogu , one of the veterans , will turn 89 in a few days and for 19 years, rain or shine, has always replied «Present! The freezing temperatures keep me healthy ."

With him also the former bricklayer Piero Tanca, 85 years old . The party is a moment of celebration and solidarity. «The initiative also has a charitable purpose with a fundraiser for Emergency », explains Lello Cau , one of the main promoters of the initiative. «We have created a twinning with the Bardolino rowers on Lake Garda». Romano Chessa, among the organizers, also announces the arrival on the beach aboard the kayak with the group of Azen canoeists who will travel along the coast from the Scoglio Lungo beach, for about a mile, to the bay of Balai.
