In Assemini , a square was named after the anti-Mafia judges Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino. The ceremony this morning coincided with the thirtieth anniversary of the Capaci massacre .

The ceremony also involved the schoolchildren of the town on the outskirts of Cagliari who wanted to contribute with lyrics and music to demonstrate against the mafia and illegality. Followed by the lectio magistralis by the prosecutor Paolo De Angelis , in the council chamber, for a reminder of the two key figures in the fight against organized crime.

Also present were the mayor of Assemini , Sabrina Licheri , and the deputy minister of Mise , Alessandra Todde .

"Falcone and Borsellino were alone, very lonely, not recognized in life and at most tolerated - explained the deputy minister - because they were annoying. They were isolated because if you join a team it is difficult to be touched. Today, 30 years later it is clearer than ever which side to stand on and it was very important to dedicate a square and a plaque to them ".

"A ceremony and remembrance also extended to the escorts killed in the attacks in Capaci and via D'Amelio and to all the victims of the mafia", said the mayor of Assemini. "It is important not to forget and to contribute so that even the youngest get to know, become curious and deepen even 30 years later who, with courage, obstinacy and foresight, revolutionized the way of fighting the Mafia at the sacrifice of one's life".
