In the car they were transporting a rifle that had been stolen over thirty years ago. Those who ended up in trouble were a twenty-five-year-old security guard living in Guspini, and a thirty-seven-year-old unemployed resident in Pabillonis, reported during the night by the Carabinieri of the Montevecchio station for receiving stolen goods and illegal possession of a weapon.

The two were on board a Daihatsu and were stopped around 2:30 in the Perd'e Cuaddu area. During the check, the military discovered that the unemployed man was in possession of a 12-gauge semi-automatic hunting rifle, Breda brand, loaded with two buckshot cartridges.

The situation immediately appeared suspicious: the thirty-seven-year-old did not have the necessary title to possess the weapon. Further investigations led to the discovery of a disturbing detail: the rifle was reported stolen, with a theft report filed over 30 years ago.

The two men were unable to provide any valid explanation as to the provenance of the rifle, further fueling the suspicions of the Carabinieri. Both were therefore reported in competition for receiving stolen goods and illegal possession of weapons. The lack of convincing justifications and the discovery of a stolen weapon leave room for complex scenarios that the police intend to explore in depth.
