Rocks are raining down from the Orientale overpass, in the Bari Sardo area. It happened at night, and the perpetrators of this insane act are endangering the safety of motorists passing near the 100th kilometer marker, at the intersection leading to the town cemetery. Three reports have been filed so far with the Carabinieri of the Lanusei branch, and the alarm remains high. Over the past few days, the military has planned surveillance on the overpass and in the surrounding area. The section is also being patrolled by the Lanusei traffic police. Investigators have interviewed residents of the homes closest to the overpass and searched the area for video cameras that may have captured the vandals.

The case

The alarm was raised by motorists with frantic calls to the 112 emergency dispatcher. Initial searches in the streets adjacent to the overpass were fruitless. Law enforcement intensified their surveillance, but there was no sign of the perpetrators of the stone throwing. At least, so far there have been no suspects, only veiled suspicions. An inspection of the bridge deck suggests that the rocks could have inadvertently slipped toward the Orientale bypass. Those who reported to the police station, after risking injury, reported that the rocks fell at high speed and with targeted precision, confirming the intentional act.
