A torrent of flags, signs, and people gathered at today's AOU workers' strike in Sassari. The strike, promoted by CGIL-CISL-UIL Funzione Pubblica and six other doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers' unions, called over a month ago, has been confirmed, despite some openness from the Region.

"Problems remain," report the general secretaries of CGIL-CISL-UIL FP, Paolo Dettori, Antonio Monni, and Augusto Ogana, respectively. "From the lack of certification of contractual funds to patient overcrowding and the recovery of hours. There are some glimmers of hope, but no guarantees."

The controversy over post-acute care beds and their allocation is also a hot topic, with some assurances reported but still no certainty. The next deadline has been set by Regional President Alessandra Todde, June 4th, when trade organizations will meet with healthcare representatives in Cagliari and the practicality of the proposed solutions will be verified.

Meanwhile, the company is experiencing daily challenges, including staff shortages and a lack of recognition for work experience.

"We have outstanding annual payments and thousands of euros unpaid," says Francesco Marras, company secretary of Anaao Assomed. "The AOU has a high rate of worker abandonment," adds Gabriele Farina, of the medical management of the FP-CGIL union. This climate of dissatisfaction has brought hundreds of employees to the streets, along a route that began in Piazza Caduti del Lavoro and stopped in front of the Santissima Annunziata hospital and the AOU . "This is a starting point," the unionists declare, anticipating further opportunities for struggle and demands.
