The Prosecutor of Tempio Pausania has requested the indictment of the four defendants considered responsible for the death of four horses from the Clodia stable in Rome, which took place on 13 July 2020 on the Moby Aki ship during the journey between Civitavecchia and Olbia.

According to a report prepared by the investigators, the animals died of heatstroke in the ship's garage during the crossing. Under indictment are the ferry captain Antonio Scotto Di Cicariello, the first deck officer Francesco Lo Nostro, the cadet deck officer Ernesto Prudente and the driver of the truck in charge of transporting the horses, Maurizio Conti, defended by Maurizio Mani.

The defense lawyers of the two officers, Giovanni Cimmino and Francesco Longhini, have asked for the oblation for the crime of animal abuse and the investigating judge Marco Contu will pronounce himself in the next hearing scheduled for May 4th.

The Clodia stud farm, represented by the lawyer Nazarena Tilocca, and the non-profit organization Horse Angels, sponsored by the lawyer Giulia Cossu, filed civil suits.

Moby and the Pieraccini trucking company were sued as civilly responsible.
