The Holy Trinity and Health Center are at risk of closure due to structural deficiencies detected by the fire department. The alarm was recently raised by the extraordinary commissioner of Local Health Authority 8, Aldo Atzori, in a letter to Prefect Giuseppe Castaldo: "He must intervene with an exemption," was the gist of the letter, "or the only solution is to suspend operations."
But the current head of the health authority wasn't the first to raise the issue. Former general manager Marcello Tidore had also done so in February. Meanwhile, however, no one has intervened.
"Aldo Atzori was right to raise the alarm," attacks Fausto Piga, deputy group leader of the FdI in the regional council, "but at the same time it's surprising that after 18 months of office nothing has been done; after all, these were well-known problems."
Regional President Alessandra Todde "knew, but she wasted time with the healthcare system; just think that as soon as she took office, she cancelled the center-right resolution on the feasibility study for new hospitals. "That's fine," Piga emphasizes, "cancelling a center-right resolution because you want to do something different, but canceling it just to do nothing, underestimating the critical issues, was an irresponsible and careless decision, for which we are paying the price today."
The Melonian representative adds that "in February 2025, seven months ago, the then Director General of ASL 8, Marcello Tidore, had warned the Todde Administration of the need to schedule urgent work to make the Santissima Trinità safe. These appeals went unheeded because time was being wasted on the little law to appoint a commissioner to the ASLs to secure positions rather than worrying about the health of Sardinians."
