A critical afternoon in Sardinia regarding the fires, especially in the southern part of the island. It was one of the most complicated days, if not the worst, with firefighters, ground vehicles, and aircraft engaged on numerous fronts: the flames, further fueled by strong mistral winds, have devastated several hectares, especially in rural areas, in some places threatening residential areas. At the regional level, 29 fires were reported today, seven of which required aerial intervention .

One of the worst situations occurred in Villacidro, in the Leni area. A large fire attacked scrubland and woodland : it broke out in the Santa Maria area and then quickly spread towards Villaspeciosa . Several businesses and homes were evacuated, with construction companies and vehicles destroyed by the flames, according to Mayor Federico Sollai. The Villacidro Carabinieri, firefighters, and two Canadair aircraft from Olbia were on site, along with personnel from the Villacidro Forestry Corps and six helicopters from the bases of Sorgono, San Cosimo, Alà dei Sardi (Super Puma), Fenosu (Super Puma), the Army, and the Air Force.

Not many kilometers away, in Serramanna, flames have threatened homes in the western part of the town . Here too, the situation is critical and not yet resolved: a single front has formed with a fire that broke out in Serrenti, initially two separate blazes. Mayor Gabriele Littera issued a desperate appeal urging residents not to leave their homes or travel through the affected area . Several homes, a construction site, and a school were evacuated. Firefighting operations were coordinated by the Sanluri Forestry Corps, with three helicopters arriving from Pula and Villasalto. Volunteers from San Sperate and firefighters from Cagliari were also present.

After hours of work, the fire in the San Sperate countryside, one of the first to break out this afternoon , has been extinguished. The Forestry Corps of Dolianova and the GAUF unit of Cagliari responded, with the addition of helicopters from Villasalto, Pula, and Fenosu (Super Puma) . Volunteers from Monastir and Assemini, as well as the Cagliari firefighters, were also on site.

The blaze in the Uta area led to the temporary closure of a section of state highway 130, bringing traffic to a standstill . Traffic resumed normally around 6:30 p.m. , when two Canadair planes arrived to combat the fire, causing significant disruption to traffic.

Also in southern Sardinia, flames broke out in Samassi, near Flumini Mannu . The Sanluri Forestry Corps is managing the emergency with helicopters from its bases in Villasalto, Farcana, and Pula. The Samassi barracelli are also on site.

Among the most significant fires, without aerial intervention, was the one in the countryside between Monastir and Villasor. The intervention of two firefighting teams prevented the involvement of a gas cylinder depot .

Elsewhere on the island, a fire has been reported on the outskirts of Girasole, in the Canale del Consorzio area : approximately two hectares of uncultivated pastures have burned, with a helicopter taking off from San Cosimo. In Birori, two aircraft, departing from Fenosu (Super Puma) and Anela, responded to a blaze in the Nuraghe Miuddu area . Two teams from Forestas di Macomer and one from the Macomer fire department also worked on the blaze. In Tortolì, uncultivated pastures burned, with a helicopter on site.
