In the south of the island, only three were saved: in Pula, Costa Rei and Teulada, the first two with a double shift scheduled for the weekend.

For the rest, it is a desert of scrubs, and there are many (medical) tourist guards who remain closed this summer: the surgery is there, but the doctor to put in is not to be found and on an island where summer there are about three million people (twice the resident population, that of the other seasons) it is not a problem: it is a drama.

Also because this population of heat strokes, cuts, jellyfish burns, congestion and alcohol crises will further clog hospitals already short of doctors.

«The entrances to the emergency rooms of Sardinian hospitals – warns Emilio Montaldo, president of the Order of Doctors of the province of Cagliari – have exploded: at Brotzu there are over one hundred patients a day. Many are tourists who have not found a tourist guard, and this overcrowding distracts the health personnel from the assistance of the red and yellow codes, that is the most serious . Better then – Montaldo becomes embittered – not to feel bad: be careful not to injure yourself and to avoid heat strokes, so drink a lot and use wide-brimmed hats».
