Good news for the San Francesco di Nuoro hospital: from tomorrow morning the General Surgery department will be fully operational. The result was achieved thanks to the sending of two doctors from the Assl of Olbia, in emergency mobility, and the support of the Assl of Lanusei.

The solution was identified following the intervention of the regional health councilor, Mario Nieddu. In recent days he had gathered in Cagliari the leaders of the Ats, the Assl of Nuoro and the Barbagia hospital for an extraordinary meeting in which he had traced the address of the possible choices.

The department's line was one and referred not only to a network logic of the regional health system but also to a sharing of resources in the field between districts and centers: "The criticalities due to the lack of specialists throughout the region cannot be overcome if not through important organizational efforts and extraordinary tools that we are putting in place - said Nieddu -. The implementation of the reform and the full operation of the Local Health Authorities will lead to a significant change in health governance which today finds in Ats a giant with feet of clay, unable to give the necessary answers ”.

Furthermore, adds the exponent of the Giunta Solinas, “the entire health system suffers from a shortage of doctors. We have inherited a situation in which the scholarships for specialization schools were just under thirty, we intervened by bringing them to 253, radically changing course. On our part, we pay the utmost attention to the Nuoro hospital, where in recent days I carried out an inspection to promptly check the working conditions in the wards, speaking directly with the doctors on duty ".

The San Francesco, he reiterates, “is an important garrison for the whole regional territory and we do not intend to give up any department. Changing the current situation remains an essential objective that requires a greater joint effort on the part of all. With this in mind, we can only thank Lanusei who, at this juncture, has guaranteed his support to Nuoro, embodying a spirit of reciprocity on which we strongly focus ".
