Head-on collision between Alghero and Olmedo, a carabiniere dies: he was on his way to start duty

Probably a lane invasion was the cause of the terrible collision on the provincial road 19 Alghero-Olmedo, between a Fiat Panda travelling towards Sassari and a Seat Ibiza travelling in the opposite direction.
In the accident, which occurred around 7 in the morning, a 55-year-old carabiniere lost his life: Pietro Mastino was driving the Ibiza, he was going to Alghero to start work. Originally from Montresta, he was a resident of Olmedo.
The injuries caused by the head-on collision were too serious. The man would have died before even reaching the hospital.
On site were the Carabinieri of Olmedo, the traffic police of Olbia, the firefighters of Sassari and 118.
