Serious accident this morning in Assemini, where a young agent of the Flying Squad of the Cagliari Police Headquarters was transported to the hospital in red code following the burns reported while, with a colleague, he was trying to rescue a 50-year-old, who was also seriously burned, who he wanted to take his own life and apparently set fire to a bar.

The episode, from what we learn, took place in via Carmine in Assemini.

At 113 came a request for help from a man, of Romanian origin, who was near a bar with a bucket full of petrol. The agents of the flying squad immediately arrived on the spot. The policemen found the 50-year-old on the street, in an evident state of agitation.

The man suddenly set fire to the petrol and the blaze also reached the policeman who was trying to save him. 118 ambulances, other police colleagues and firefighters immediately arrived on the scene. The two burned were transported to the hospital.

The flying squad agent was hospitalized at the Brotzu in Cagliari: he has severe burns to his arms and legs. The 50-year-old, on the other hand, was hospitalized at the Policlinico di Monserrato, also in red code.
