Yet another night of violence in Capoterra , where a 26-year-old man showed up at the emergency medical service with a gunshot wound to his left shoulder blade . According to initial reports, the motive for the attack – for which a 49-year-old local man was arrested – was linked to an argument that had broken out shortly before in Piazza Sardegna : the young man had inadvertently stepped on the man's dog's paw, unleashing his fury . A few minutes later, the 49-year-old had approached the victim from behind, fired a shot, and then fled on foot. The injured man , a Romanian worker living in Assemini, was taken to the Brotzu hospital in Cagliari , where he is currently hospitalized awaiting surgery .
"They shot me." This is what the young man told the emergency medical service, where he arrived around three in the morning, accompanied by his girlfriend. He also had other injuries, fortunately less serious. The call to 118 was immediate and the police intervened. The episode required the prompt intervention of the Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Cagliari Company, supported by the military of the Capoterra and Pula Stations. The reason for the fight could be traced back to a gesture by the boy, who allegedly stepped on the leg of the 49-year-old's dog, appearing indifferent to the pain inflicted on the animal. Hence the violent reaction of the owner .
The investigations allowed to quickly reconstruct the incident and trace the identity of the attacker, a 49-year-old unemployed man already known to the police. During the search of his home, the Carabinieri found and seized a homemade air rifle modified to fire .22 caliber bullets, along with the related ammunition.
The man was arrested on charges of attempted murder and transferred to Uta prison, by order of the Cagliari Judicial Authority. Analysis of any video surveillance footage is underway to clarify the precise dynamics of the attack and verify the possible involvement of other people.
