Bloody Dawn between Solanas and Quartu: Wife Shot and Brother Killed

An argument on the coast culminated in an attempted femicide and, shortly thereafter, another argument that ended in bloodshed.

These are the outlines of what happened this morning between Solanas and Quartu, where a man – Alessandro Pintus, 39 years old from Cagliari – shot his wife Michela Rubiu, 47 years old,   seriously injuring her and then killing her brother, Andrea Pintus , 42. The 39-year-old then went to the Carabinieri station and was taken to prison. The couple runs a bar together in Solanas, and it is here that the argument reportedly occurred.

This is the initial reconstruction provided by the Carabinieri: the alarm was raised shortly before 6:00 a.m., when 118 notified the officers of the presence of a 47-year-old woman injured in a home in the coastal hamlet of Solanas. The victim was reportedly hit in the head by a gunshot fired by a man who immediately fled in a car.

Shortly after, at 6.10am, a second report to 118 required an urgent intervention in via Asfodelo in Margine Rosso (Quartu), where a 42-year-old man was found to have been hit with a firearm .

The turning point came at a quarter past six when Alessandro Pintus, a legal firearms holder, showed up at the police station declaring that he had just shot his wife and brother.

The woman, who suffered serious head injuries, was treated and rushed to the hospital in critical condition. According to investigators' initial investigations, the attack appears to be related to family conflicts.

The investigation into the tragedy is ongoing, coordinated by Deputy Public Prosecutor Gian Giacomo Pilia. During the initial questioning by the prosecutor and the Carabinieri, the suspect exercised his right to remain silent.
