The young man is accused of aggravated negligent injury due to failure to provide assistance and driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to the charges, the man allegedly hit the elderly man from behind and then went home, parked, and went to bed.

"I didn't notice anything," these were reportedly the words of the 24-year-old, tracked down shortly after the episode due to the "traces" left on the asphalt and the videos.

Meanwhile, the 67-year-old suffered some serious injuries, including a fractured pelvis, broken ribs and two vertebrae.

During the hearing, the young man apologized for what happened, reiterating that he had not noticed anything. Judge Valentina Nuvoli ordered the measures mentioned, while defense attorney Luca Sciaccaluga asked the defense for terms to evaluate the hypothesis of an alternative rite.
