The long dispute that for over thirty years has kept investments in the industrial and artisan area of Guasila blocked. The object of the dispute was the way in which four decades ago the municipal administration had carried out the expropriations in order to create the area for the productive settlements on the outskirts of the town, towards Segariu.

The expropriation procedure for public utility adopted to define the practices had some irregularities, so much so as to convince the owners of the land up to that moment for agricultural use to request a maxi compensation of 5 million euros. Amount that would have caused the financial distress of the Municipality. The city administration has carried out in recent years a long transaction with the applicants and in many cases with their heirs (in total seventy people) until reaching the historical part.

"We closed the transaction by accepting payment of about half of what was the initial claim, or 2.4 million," explains the first citizen.

But the good news does not end there: most of the compensation will be paid thanks to a special fund (55 million in total) allocated by the Region in favor of the municipalities burdened by disputes. The Pip area of Guasila is no longer a mined area, but is soon destined to become a safe haven for those who want to plan investments. The historic peace of the industrial area, even symbolically, can represent the stimulus for a new beginning.
