The images from last Monday, with the greyhound puppy run over on the 131 near Codrongianos, moved many readers.

Wounded and with multiple fractures, she had found shelter under a guardrail. The providential intervention of the firefighters, who arrived on the spot alerted by passers-by, allowed the animal to save itself.

Admitted to the Schiaffino veterinary clinic in Usini, in the past few hours she underwent a first reconstruction operation on her hind leg. An additional one remains in the front limb, to be combined with physiotherapy.

The union of intentions between the municipality of Codronagianos and a couple of tourists from the Peninsula, who arrived among the first on the 131, is important. They are Noemi Merante (26 years old) and Francesco Colucci (28) promoters of a fundraiser on Gofoundme to support greyhound rehabilitation costs.

First objective achieved: over 800 euros which, added to the support of the Municipality, allowed the first operation.

«We were going to Alghero for a day on the coast», Merante and Colucci recount, «seeing a couple of motorists stopped on the side of the road, we pulled over, finding the dog lying on the asphalt. The boys who preceded us had already called for help, and they arrived shortly thereafter».

They continue: «We have always loved the world of animals, and we have gone further, launching the collection. The support was broad and many have done their part.

And so in the late morning of today, the first intervention with the insertion of the prostheses: «We are grateful to Dr. Giovanni Schiaffino for the work he has done, with great professionalism and humanity. We have expanded the collection, as another 2275 euros are needed for treatment ».

The couple who are about to go home after the holidays do not rule out adopting the dog: «We are evaluating what to do with our loved ones», they add, «if we are unable to do so, there would be friends ready to do their part. Once the rehabilitation phase is over, we are committed to doing our part further, with the transfer to a specialized center on the peninsula". In the meantime, Even (as she was renamed) continues the course of treatment, waiting for the next intervention.

The donation campaign is still active on the reference channels. Both young people make themselves available for any information on the case (mobile 3425942197 )
