«This administration has not forgotten Guglielmo Marconi: anticipating the times, I can already announce that some rooms of the renovated Villa Sospiri (former colony for deaf-mute people) will be used as a museum to be dedicated to the illustrious scientist, collaborating with the Olbia section of the Italian Radio Amateur Association". Thus, the mayor of Golfo Aranci, Mario Mulas, in response to what was declared by the Maremosso citizens' committee which, on the occasion of the Nobel Prize's birthday, on 25 April, had denounced the absence of initiatives in the country to pay homage to the pioneer of radio, in contrast to the rest of Italy, remembered with many events sponsored, also, by the Ministry of Culture.

Therefore, adds the mayor, "the criticisms" addressed to the municipal administration are specious for having failed to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Guglielmo Marconi who, in 1932, conducted one of his most important shortwave radio link experiments.

"This administration has repeatedly celebrated its most illustrious fellow citizen but the timing of the budget this year did not allow for celebrations", concluded the mayor.
