The weekly Covid cases in Sardinia increase by 47.7%. This is what emerges from the report of the Gimbe Foundation for the week from 5 to 11 January. On the island there are 1,056 cases currently positive per 100 thousand inhabitants.

As for the weekly incidence of infections, the worst situation is in the province of Nuoro, with 1,081 cases. The Oristanese followed with 720, then Northern Sardinia with 536, the Metropolitan City of Cagliari with 397 and Southern Sardinia with 336.

The beds in the medical area are below the saturation threshold (13.5%) while the beds in intensive care are above the threshold (13.7%) occupied by Covid-19 patients. Sardinia, along with Molise, is the only Region not to exceed the 15% threshold in the medical area.

With another 265 Covid patients in the medical area and another 13 in intensive care, Sardinia would end up in the orange zone, to end up in the red zone instead, it takes 425 and 33 respectively. Net of a possible increase in dedicated beds.

VACCINES - The Sardinians who have completed the vaccination cycle are 1,281,665, representing 80.1% of the population against an Italian average of 79%. To these must be added a 3.2% who received only the first dose. The children between 5 and 11 years old who completed the cycle on the island were 2,782 (2.7%), another 16,829 received the first dose.

The coverage rate with third dose is 57%, compared to an Italian average of 61.5%.

In the meantime, the boost to the vaccination campaign continues due to the new resurgence of the pandemic and the new rules for the use of the Green pass: the percentages of first dose inoculations among the over 80s rise again (90.5%), in the 50 range. -59 years (86.2%), but also among the over 40 (82.3%), over 30 (81.6%), between the 20-29 year olds (86%) and also among the over 12 (85, 7%).
