The Bonaria cemetery will welcome Gigi Riva's coffin today. Rombo di Tuono will thus be able to rest in his beloved land, in Cagliari, in the “D'Arcais” chapel .

Dating back to 1800 - currently empty and available to the Municipality - it will host the champion even though burials in the monumental building have been suspended since 1968. The temporary solution will be followed by a new special area, an altar dedicated to the Myth which can thus become a destination for all fans, Sardinians and beyond.

The burial was given the go-ahead last night, following a resolution by the council. And in the future it is not excluded that the chapel could be named after Gigi. A place just for him, to pay homage to the great man he was, in love to the end with the land that welcomed him when he was just over 18: Sardinia.
