A special day last Saturday at the Reading Club in Ghilarza for the dedication of the library to Ambassador Francesco Corrias. His daughter Pilar was present who discovered the plaque together with the president Aldo Buiani .

The diplomat has a career of great importance for having been a great officer in the order "For Merit of the Italian Republic", ambassador to Belgium and Angola, diplomatic advisor to the President of the Republic Francesco Cossiga, director general for emigration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, consul general of Italy in New York.

«Francesco Corrias - explains President Buiani - was the son of Angelino, who was also an ambassador . Very close to Ghilarza, a town to which he donated all the precious historical material that belonged to his father and is now kept in the "Sas Nannigheddas" museum. Instead, he donated several family books to the Reading Club .

Under the guidance of Buiani and the current board of directors, the Club is consolidating itself as a place of culture and venue for numerous cultural and social events. «A partnership, more than 150 years old - the president points out - , which involves the Ghilarza company spanning no less than three centuries. The ambition is that our Club can once again interpret, as in the past, a permanent cultural stimulus in the social life of the city and the territory».

On Friday 28 July, at 7 pm, the reprint of the book by Tomaso Sanna "Circolo dilettante 1848 - 2023, history of a partnership" will be presented. Stefania Frigau of the Dolianova reading circle intervenes with a thesis entitled "Culture and communities".
