Ghilarza, farmer stabbed at the bar during a dispute

An argument degenerated and a knife came out in the bar in Piazza San Palmerio, in Ghilarza.

Alessandro Atzeni , a 32-year-old from Ghilarza, was shot in the abdomen by Ugo Marceddu , a farmer originally from Nughedu but a long-time resident of Ghilarza .

The wounded man was immediately transferred to the emergency room of San Martino while the carabinieri arrived on the spot and started the investigation.

It is around 18.30 on Monday when the discussion between the two farmers broke out in front of the bar.

According to an initial reconstruction, it would have been Atzeni who lashed out against Marceddu because he has always believed that he was involved in the death of his father Mario, who was the victim of an ambush on 3 September 2017 (he had been shot in the face by a killer who had shot him dead in S'Arenarzu farm, between Ghilarza and Abbasanta).

The 32-year-old would have tried to attack him and at that point Marceddu would have defended himself by pulling a knife from his pocket.

A blow to the abdomen, Atzeni collapsed and the alarm was immediately raised. In a few moments, the 118 ambulance arrived in Piazza San Palmerio and gave first aid to Alessandro Atzeni who was then transferred to the emergency room for further checks.

From the first reports, however, it seems that he was hit superficially and that the wound is slight. In the meantime, the Carabinieri of Ghilarza have started the investigation.
