Investigations continue to reconstruct the framework of the illicit activities – starting with drug trafficking – that have triggered a real war between rival gangs in recent years for control of the territory in Ogliastra and beyond. Investigations that have accelerated after the arrest – after two years of being a fugitive – of Sandro Arzu .

The latter is being investigated as the material perpetrator of the murder of Beniamino Marongiu , which occurred in Arzana in 2024. But four other arrest warrants were notified in the investigation.

Another murder is said to have been committed in the context of the feud, that of Mosè Cao, from Lotzorai (2011). Returning to the Marongiu crime, a video surveillance footage has also emerged that immortalizes the killer in action.
