Tragedy in Furtei, where a 75-year-old man - Giuseppe Scano - died, apparently suffering from a heart attack, while trying to put out the flames that had engulfed his tracksuit trousers.

The 75-year-old was found lifeless in his home by the firefighters, who intervened with the police following the alarm raised by his family, who were unable to contact the elderly man.

Once on site, the men of 115 broke a window and once they entered together with the soldiers they made the macabre discovery.

The 75-year-old was on the floor, in the bathroom, with his sweatpants burned. The house, however, was full of smoke.

According to the investigators' hypothesis, a spark from the fireplace of the house would have set fire to the tracksuit trousers that the 75-year-old was wearing. The man, terrified, would then have reached the bathroom to put out the flames. But at that moment, perhaps due to fear or the thick smoke, he felt ill, which proved fatal.
