Eugenio Murgioni , current mayor of Castiadas , was sentenced for embezzlement to 2 years and 7 months (but with the statute of limitations on part of the charges until August 13, 2007). ended up in the investigation into the funds destined for the groups of the XIII and XIV legislature of the Regional Council which involved about eighty Sardinian politicians.

After the investigation by prosecutor Marco Cocco, after the indictment, prosecutor Rossella Spano had requested a 4-year prison sentence in the indictment.

For those events, Murgioni was arrested in 2014 by order of the investigating judge who had identified a danger of evidentiary pollution.

The former regional councilor is defended by the lawyer Massimiliano Ravenna who has already announced an appeal.
