The wind invasion planned at Perdas Arbas on the peaks in front of the Redentore, in Sardinia. The stratospheric office of the company that would like to devastate the granite landscapes of Barbagia, instead, housed in the skyscrapers of Singapore, ten thousand kilometers away from Nuoro. No one, until today, had dared so much. The affront this time speaks Asian, writes in Italian, designs on Sardinian soil. The story is not the usual descent of foreigners on the island of Sardinia, it is not the umpteenth invasion of new foreigners "slicers" of the "furious wind" in the land of Grazia Deledda. This time there is more. From the other side of the world, in one of the richest islands in the universe, news must have arrived that in Sardinia there are no limits to wind energy employment. Here, they must have thought, you can do whatever you want, even emulate with wind turbines from 220 meters high those immense skyscrapers that soar into the sky of the city-state nestled on the extreme southern tip of Malaysa.

33 times smaller

We are talking about an island, that of Singapore, 33 times smaller than Sardinia, 712 square km compared to the 24,090 of the land of the Nuraghi, 5 and a half million inhabitants compared to one million 650 thousand. The difference is substantial: the city-state, in fact, is the fourth largest financial center in the world, one of the most impressive cosmopolitan cities in the world. Its port is among the top five for activity and traffic. In that square, in the center of the financial districts, where you walk with your gaze turned towards the sky, there is a company with the unmistakable name: «YR Nuoro Pte Limited».

I crossed over

His neighbors are not beggars. In the same building, perpetually polished, redundant with brown granite, bronze, lacquer and glass, in Parkview Square, there is everything. On the fourth floor of the 144 meters high skyscraper stands the Honorary Consulate of Oman, on the ninth there is the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates, on the 24th the embassies of Austria and Mongolia. They, the filthy rich, on the upper floors of the most prestigious towers, in Nuoro, on the other hand, the skyscrapers, this time in steel, the gentlemen with credit cards from Singapore want to place them right in front of Athens on the island, along those peaks that from Orani to Orune overlook the slope of Prato Sardo, on the 131 dcn, the central Nuorese branch of the Carlo Felice. Not a few shovels, but a real wall, with wind turbines capable of scratching the sky at a height of 220 metres, regardless of Nuragic villages, giants' tombs, landscapes designed by time and nature. The Singapore project has an all-Sardinian name, “Perda Pinta”.

The War of the Shovels

According to the geographical coordinates, the 15 giants, 135 meters high for the pylon and 170 meters in diameter for the blades, overall above 220 meters in height, would brutally overlap with the other project called Intermontes, presented just a few months ago in the same area. In some cases it would seem that the Singapore blades are planned one above the other with those of the opposing project, as if the wind war had already begun to take its first steps in the land of Sardinia.

Asian tiger in Nuoro

One of the four tigers of Asia, Singapore, together with Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan, therefore decides to get their hands on the Sardinian wind. The operation had to remain hidden in the maze of the Ministry of the Environment, secreted in a nook of the wind assault on the Sardinian island. Instead of following the traditional path of the Environmental Impact Assessment of the Pnrr, that of a theoretical fast track, but now also clogged with thousands of practices, the Asians have chosen the less traveled path, that of the Single Provision on Environmental Matters.

Beginning of the year

They presented it in Rome on January 10, 2023, as if to start the new year with the Sardinian mission. The project was signed by a modest srl, paid just ten thousand euros, registered in the Chamber of Commerce of Milan as «Nuoro Wind srl», declared to be one hundred percent owned by «YR Nuoro Pte Limitd», based in North Bridge Road in the central skyscraper of Singapore, in the most prestigious Parkview square. At the head of the operation, however, there is Yinson Holdings Berhad, a Malaysian multinational, which deals with large-scale investments, with particular dedication to offshore production, at sea, and renewable energy, including the management of vessels of offshore support.

The "charm" of monsters

Although these gentlemen landed on the slopes of Prato Sardo like illustrious strangers, they wasted no time embracing, with a surprising ability to adapt, the main rule of Sardinian wind purveyors: mitigating the devastating impact of these wind turbines in words Asian. Indeed, if you listen to them, they will try to convince you, just read the reports, that the Sardinian landscape would find infinite benefit from these monsters placed on the peaks of Barbagia. They don't say it directly but rely on a quotation mark attributed "no less" than Lega Ambiente. The quotation is worthy of a Nobel Prize winner for fantasy, surreal, almost a joke, if it weren't written on page 31 of the project's descriptive report: «It is the fascination of these large, modern machines for producing energy from the wind inserted between mountains and woods, gentle hills cultivated with wheat, but also observation points towards wonderful views that range from the sea to the mountains».

Courage farce

It takes courage, after all. From one of the tallest skyscrapers in Singapore in Asia, ten thousand kilometers from their home, in Sardinia, they come to describe that projected marching column of wind turbines in front of the Ortobene, like a godsend. Designers climb dizzyingly on words to try, in vain, to mitigate the impact.

From Orani to Orune

The translated picture, with the elimination of the superfluous, is all too clear, and they write it: the main reliefs, which effectively define «the perceptive phenomenon concern the slopes of the Marghine chain, the reliefs that from Monte Cuccureddu passing through Punta Sologheri, Monte Funtaneddas and Monte Ortobene arrive without interruption up to Punta Murittu, and on the edge of the visual basin, Monte Bardia and Monte Tului». The substance is simple, a large part of central Sardinia would see these fixed helicopters wheeling over the head of the Nuorese "seamlessly", which means a wall of wind turbines without respite, from Orani to Orune.

Shovels and scenic sites

However, for the businessmen who came from Singapore, the Sardinian land being conquered would benefit in decisive terms. They don't say it, they write it, without any shame. For them, those wind turbines on the peaks of the Nuoro area would even allow the creation of new routes for tourist use and the enhancement of panoramic sites. As if to say, until today the landscape of Sardinia was not worth much. Thanks to wind turbines, according to the lords of Asia, it will be possible to make even the panoramic sites of Barbagia attractive. We lacked the Asians to explain to the Sardinians that without their wind turbines there is no future. Obviously they would earn billionaire incentives with both hands, the Sardinians, on the other hand, would lose everything, landscape, wind, energy and future.
